The Ruby Lou Bag Sewing Pattern, crafted by Melissa Mortenson of Polka Dot Chair, is a delightful PDF pattern tailored for beginners and seasoned makers alike. Designed for young children, this mini purse avoids tricky closures—no zippers or snaps—making it easy for small hands to open and explore. A handy front pocket offers the perfect spot for stashing treasured tiny toys or trinkets.

This charming bag features a small pocket on the front and button accents on the handles, making it ideal for little girls to carry their treasures. The initial sewing guide for creating this bag lacked pattern pieces, which posed a challenge for many Polka Dot Chair enthusiasts in drafting the pattern on their own. For this reason, this pattern has been improved and redesigned. The PDF pattern features full color photos, clear instructions and printable pattern pieces!

The Ruby Lou Bag measures approximately 14” wide by 17” tall by 1 1/2” wide.

Whether you're creating a handmade gift for a toddler, teaching a beginner sewist, or simply looking for a sweet and practical sewing project, the Ruby Lou Bag pattern promises to be a loyal favorite—cute, and functional.
