Learn to sew these simple zipper pouches adorned with a rainbow of heart appliqués! Zipper pouches are incredibly useful, make wonderful gifts, and are enjoyable to sew, especially when decorated with a rainbow of hearts! With this free video tutorial by Amy Chappell for Therm-o-web, you can quickly sew a lovely collection of them. The rainbow heart zipper pouches in this tutorial are crafted using Hashdot fabrics from Michael Miller and can be completed in an afternoon. Keep one in your purse, laptop bag, backpack, diaper bag, etc., or present it to a teacher as a token of appreciation. Perfect for birthday gifts filled with fun treats or toys – the possibilities are endless with these sweet rainbow heart pouches.


You will need:


  1. less than a fat quarter of fabric for the exterior and lining each,

  2. scraps for the hearts

  3. pattern for hearts, or cut your own

  4. Heat n Bond lite

  5. Heat n bond fusible fleece

  6. zipper – at least 8″ long

  7. 3/4″ D-ring, if desired to add the wrist strap


Watch now:

*In the video it says to place the heart appliques 1 3/4″ away from the right side, this should be changed to 1 1/4″.
