Pretty Parasols Scrappy Spring Quilt – PDF Pattern

Here’s a cheery little wall hanging to brighten even the rainiest day. Fabric possibilities are endless, so make this one your own and bring on the rain. You won’t get wet under these gay umbrellas! This design is an adaptation of a 1950’s baby quilt–simplified for easier piecing and assembled in a sashed setting that joins blocks into groups of four and then sashed again to join the four-block units. The wall hanging size is perfect for a baby’s room.

This design would also make a wonderful bed quilt. Since it’s scrappy and it’s built-in four-block units, it’s easy to increase the size. Yardage and directions included for lap, twin, double/queen, and king-size quilts. This quilt features pieced blocks (not applique). If you’ve never attempted curved piecing, this is an easy way to learn and perfect your skills. Extensive directions with clear illustrations guide the way to perfect blocks.  “Pretty Parasols” quilt is a “planned scrappy” quilt. There isn’t a duplicate block in it, but if you look closely, you’ll see that some parasols show a solid band and others are the reverse. If you have a healthy fabric stash or a great collection of scraps or pre-cuts, you might not need to buy fabric for the parasols. Each one requires only a 6″ x 8″ or smaller scrap.
