sewingtimes

Our Friday Freebie this week is a free video tutorial from the fabulous Sewing Times for this handy mini tote bag with an alternative yet very simple method for creating and attaching handles to a bag. This mini tote bag features a practical interior slip pocket, combining style with functionality. This fun and simple sewing project is perfect for beginners!

Watch now:

The completed dimensions of this sweet little mini tote are approximately 9⅞″ (25cm) in width, 7⅛″ (18cm) in height, and 3¼″ (8cm) in depth.

Tips and thoughts:

  • This mini tote would also make a nice lunch bag.

  • More experienced sewists could include a recessed zipper to close the main compartment.

  • Alternatively, a magnetic snap or Velcro provides a simple closure option if desired. There are many options to personalize practical bags for daily use with pockets, fabrics, hardware, and straps.
