Military-style Messenger Bag – Two Flap Styles

enna from Fabulous Home Sewn originally designed this military-style messenger bag as a book bag for her pre-teens and teenagers but you can stitch this sturdy and practical bag for any age with this digital sewing pattern. The main features of this bag include the bellow pockets on the front, highlighted by the grommets. The bag is reinforced with webbing that runs around the sides and bottom. This bag pattern includes a longer strap option for adults. Both strap options are adjustable. There are two flap style

Sewing Supplies:

1. 1 2” (5 cm) adjustable slider

2. 2 2” (5 cm) rectangular rings

3. 2.75 yards (2.5m) 2” (5 cm) webbing 1 or 2 magnetic snaps

4. 2 or 4 grommets 0.25” (6.35mm) (optional)

5. 1 package fusible fleece 22”x 36” or 56 x 91 cm

6. 1 yard main fabric such as canvas, vinyl, bottomweight

7. 1 yard lining fabric

8. Velcro (0ptional)

9. scrap or ¾ yard (69 cm) lightweight interfacing

10. (you’ll need the ¾ yard (69 cm) if you are replacing the webbing with your own straps.)
