Simple Steps to Add Purse Feet and Give Your Bags a Chic Look - DIY Tutorial

Adding purse feet to your bags is a practical and stylish way to protect the bottom of your handbag while also adding a touch of sophistication. These small metal or plastic studs elevate your bag slightly off the ground, preventing it from coming into direct contact with dirty surfaces and reducing wear and tear. Whether you're a seasoned DIY enthusiast or just looking to upgrade your favorite handbag, here's a simple guide on how to add purse feet to your bags.

Gather Your Materials: To get started, you'll need a few basic supplies. You'll need purse feet (available in various styles and sizes), a measuring tape, a marker, an awl or hole punch, a hammer, and a sturdy surface to work on.

Determine Placement: Decide where you want to attach the purse feet. Typically, they are placed near the four corners of the bag's bottom. Measure and mark these locations with a marker to ensure they are evenly spaced and aligned.

Prepare Holes: Use the awl or hole punch to create holes where you marked the placement for the purse feet. Be careful not to make the holes too large; they should be just big enough to accommodate the screws or prongs of the feet.

Attach the Feet: Insert the screws or prongs of the purse feet through the holes you created. Place a small piece of fabric or a leather washer over the screws on the inside of the bag to reinforce the attachment. Secure the feet in place by tightening the screws or folding the prongs inside the bag, using a hammer if necessary.

Check for Stability: Once all the feet are attached, check the stability of your bag by setting it on a flat surface. Ensure that all the feet touch the ground evenly to provide proper support.

Finishing Touches: Trim any excess fabric or leather on the inside of the bag and make sure all the hardware is securely fastened. You can also add a drop of clear glue for extra reinforcement.

Adding purse feet to your bags not only enhances their longevity but also adds a professional finish to your handmade creations. It's a simple yet effective DIY project that can make a significant difference in the overall look and durability of your handbags. Plus, it's a practical choice for anyone who wants to protect their investment in stylish accessories.
