Materials Needed:

  • Front pocket and pocket lining: Two – 6 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ pieces of cotton fabric
  • Back: 6 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ piece of cotton fabric
  • Lining (& casing for measuring tape): 6 1/2″ x 12″ piece of contrasting cotton fabric
  • Interfacing for front pocket: 5 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ fusible interfacing
  • Interfacing for back: 5 1/4″ x 4″ fusible interfacing
  • Interfacing for front casing: 5 1/4″ x 1″ fusible interfacing
  • Zipper: 9 inches or longer
  • Two 5″ lengths of 3/4″ wide metal measuring tape
  • Thread

    Thank you for sharing such a great little tutorial! I love making snap bags and have used up all of my hubby’s old measuring tapes. LOL When he saw what I was doing with them he went and bought me more! The zipper is a great addition, I will have to try that.
    FYI, I made a bunch of padded snap bags for reusable gift bags at Christmas time and one of them just happens to fit my new notebook computer. It is so nice to grab it when I am on the way out the door; it is so much easier to hold onto than the smooth surface of the computer notebook. I even added a little handle on the side in case I needed it but just grabbing the fabric works fine.
